Background:

St Andrew's Church of England Primary School was founded by the Church of England to provide an education according to the principles and practices of the Church of England. The school was opened on the present site in 1867; there is record of a school in Weeley as early as 1797. In 1810 a schoolroom was built in The Street and this was until 1865 when the Squire of Weeley donated the present site. New sections were added to the school in 1900, 1937, 1964, 1970 and 1991. The building is in a good state of decoration and is being continually upgraded. Within the main building there are three classrooms, a music and technology suite and prefect's common room, a large hall, a technology and kiln area, administrative offices and a library. There is also a new temporary classroom sited behind the main block on the edge of the playing field. The school aims to provide a balanced education within the guidelines proposed by the national curriculum. The main sports played are netball, hockey, rounders, football and junior cricket. It has a wide range of after-school clubs including pottery, art, country dance, drama, cricket, recorders, football, hockey, netball or rounders. The school will endeavour to provide every pupil with a broad and balanced curriculum that will enable them to fulfil their potential to the highest possible level.
