Background:

The school was opened in 1968 to provide education for Catholic children in the parish of Wiltham. It is housed in a single-storey, purpose-built building designed on semi-open-plan lines with classroom areas arranged around a central hall and creative arts room. There is also a well stocked library and computer suite, and a separate area for art and craft activities together with a kiln. The school is surrounded by open fields and has its own field for sporting activities. With input from Colchester United FC and Essex County Cricket club the school takes part in the local district sports league for football, netball, rounders, swimming and athletics. Regular after-school clubs include French, woodwind and brass tuition, and a school folk club. Children from the school sit on Witham Youth Council, while groups of pupils entertain senior citizens at Christmas and the school also enters youth teams for community quizzes. It also has links with a charity in Zambia and Christmas gift boxes have been sent to Kosovo.
