Background:
Established in 1971 on the site of the Old Grays Techincal School, The Grays School, near the River Thames, aims to give every pupil 'equality of opportunity to fulfil their individual talents.' Housed in three main blocks, school facilities include extensive all-weather playing fields, a fitness suite and new facilities for the disabled. Encouraging home-school links through a regular newsletter, the school also hopes to broaden pupil's experiences through a range of school trips, notably to Italy, Spain, and the World War I Battlefields. Residential weekends are also organised for the most able pupils. The Gray's School's anti-bullying structure has received national aclaim. Sports include rugby, hockey, basketball, cricket and athletics. Emphasis is placed on fully preparing students for further education or employment.
