Background:
St Joseph's RC Primary is a small, family school set in 'very attractive' grounds, which include a pond and an orchard. The school founded in 1895 but has been on its present site since 1953. There are four classrooms, a hall, a craft room and a kiln room. Extra-curricular activities take place after school and at lunch time and include music, calligraphy, science club, maths club and various sports. Cricket and football coaching are available for older children as are private guitar, clarinet, flute, cornet, saxophone and trumpet lessons. The children take a 'keen interest' in raising money for charities and were recently involved in a project to raise money for an education scholarship fund for South Africa.
