Background:

Oaks Park High School opened in September 2001. It will be an eight-form entry school, which will grow to have a sixth-form. The school was built in recognition of the growing shortfall of places at schools within the Borough now and in the future. Being a brand new purpose-built school, Oaks Park High School is able to benefit from some excellent facilities and is full accessible for disabled students. Within a building there is also a gymnasium, an excellent fitness room and a classroom; the sports hall has provision for four badminton courts and has the facilities for the full range of indoor sports; outstanding facilities for design and technology which include three multi-material workshops, two food technology rooms as well as facilities for textiles, graphics and computer aided design; four art rooms; nine science laboratories; two well equipped music rooms as well as four practice rooms; two drama spaces. Being a new school, Oaks Park High School is fully networked and is able to benefit from the best that modern technology can offer. There are four dedicated ICT rooms, which provide excellent facilities as well as further resources in the science and the technology wings. The school regularly fields teams for football, cricket, athletics, rounders, and netball and also participates in the Borough Swimming Gala. The school aims to create a caring, supportive environment in which each student feels secure and valued.
