Background:
The school was founded by the Church of England in 1851, and retains strong links to St Andrew's church. It moved to its present site in 1975 where it has the advantage of an open-plan design with separate hall, computer suite, library and its own swimming pool. The 'popular' school aims to 'teach children how to make appropriate moral decisions and so form successful personal relationships. This approach helps children to make thoughtfull decisions about the right way to behave in any situation and this leads to self-discipline and respect for others. We believe that these virtues, plus loyalty, self-confidence and good sportsmanship are as important as academic development an we aim to develop all of these in our school'.
