Background:

The Bishops' School is a voluntary aided joint Roman Catholic and Church of England primary school providing education for pupils aged 5-11 years of age. In 1987, the school moved into its prestigious new buildings. It serves the local parishes of both denominations. The school has expanded and it now has two forms each year rather than one. Apart from the school bases, which are flexible enough to provide a degree of openness when necessary, the school building contains a multi-purpose hall. The school also has a large covered courtyard, which provides additional space for a range of activities. There is a specially designed, well-stocked library, which also houses a computer suite for ICT teaching. In addition, each class is equipped with two computers for use in various areas of the curriculum. Additional facilities include a small music room, electrically fired kiln, outdoor adventure play area and infant playroom and outside play facility. The full national curriculum is supported by many extra-curricular activities. Children participate in charity fundraising and become involved in the community in variety of ways. The school aims to foster Christian beliefs including the particular traditions of worship and practice appropriate to the individual child.
