Background:
The origins of the school date back to 1931 with the founding of Beal Modern School, named after local dignitary Alderman John Beal. It became a grammar school in 1948 and later became fully comprehensive in 1983. It has playing fields covering 28 acres between Ilford and Woodford, next to North Circular and close to the M11. The school has annual musicals and offers the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
