Background:

Alton Park is a school for children aged seven to 11 years. It is a relatively large school and this enables it to provide a wide range of activities. The school was opened in 1952 and the buildings are spaciously designed with individual classrooms. There is a large assembly hall, which is well equipped for physical education, and a separate dining hall. The school also has an ICT suite. Its grounds provide a wealth of resources. The school has a thriving gardening club, which meets after-school and makes a considerable contribution to improving its environment. The school holds the Football Association's Charter Mark for coaching, whilst this year the 7-a-side teams have performed consistently well. The schools choirs are recognised as being amongst the best in Essex. The school runs a full programme of activities outside the normal curriculum. There is a art club, computer club, chess club, drama club and sports club. The school'strives to provide its children with an education that challenges. It encourages self belief and a determination to achieve personal potential within a caring community.
