Background:
The Harwich School is one of six 11-18 comprehensive schools. The careers department is situated in the resource centre and is available to all students, though formal careers sessions within the physical and social education programme do not appear until Year 9. A well-stocked careers library is available based on the CLCI system together with occupations and a variety of information on colleges and universities, including videos and CD ROMs. Students are encouraged to use the careers library at lunchtime and after-school. Religious education is taught to Years 7-9. The school has strong links with the arts community, allowing work to be shared informally and formally with organisations in the town. The school aims to working and learning together to become educated, responsible and successful and citizens of the world.
