Background:
St Peters College is a new school which opened in September 2003. It has the location, staff and students of the now-closed Rainsford High School, but with a new headteacher. The school has specialist rooms for all subjects, with three recently refurbished science laboratories, as well as a media studies room with digital video facilities. The school has a suite of 45 networked computers to enable students to develop their independent learning skills. The school has strong links with its feeder primary schools in the local community, and offers taster days to pupils in Years 5 and 6. Each student is encouraged to take part in extra-curricular activities. These include computer club, chess, sports, science club, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme (from Year 10), and trips to France.
