Background:

Situated just south of Harlow Town centre, the school occupies a 'very pleasant and large open site within easy reach of the town centre, farmland and open countryside' on the edge of one of the many substantial green belt areas crossing the town. The building has 'substantial' specialist accommodation including a sports hall, music suite, performance workshop, a 70 plus whole school ICT network and a central quadrangle, which houses peacocks and ducks. Music and drama are a 'strength' and the school has put in a bid for lottery funding to help pay for a new all-weather and multi-purpose pitch with floodlights. It also offers a dyslexia centre. The school has been awarded a Schools Curriculum Award and has been named an Investor in People. The school aims to have 'traditional values within a modern education'. 'Standards of behaviour, uniform and achievement' form the central aspect of the school's ethos and each individual pupil is 'encouraged to reach their full potential'. A code of conduct in the school applies to pupils and staff alike.
