Background:
Founded in 1901 as Park Higher Grade School and moved to the present location in Barkingside in 1930s. New sports hall in 2006. The school prides itself on its achievements in soccer, cricket and swimming and there are lunchtime and after-school clubs in these and other sports such as rugby, athletics, basketball and volleyball. The school has a strong tradition in music. The music department is well equipped with classroom percussion and a music technology room. IIford County High School pupils enjoy a challenge and, consequently, it enters a variety of competitions both locally and nationally each year. Specialist science college status. Over-subscribed, with seven applications per place. Investor in People status (2005); DfES achievement award (2000). Ethos: 'Through developing strong relationships and mutual trust, its aim is to provide a learning environment in which all pupils are able to realise their full academic potential, develop independence of thought and self-esteem.
