Background:
The school is named after General James Edward Oglethorpe, an English soldier and Philanthropist who entered Parliament in 1722. The school has a garden and the junior and infants each have their own playgrounds areas. The school has a music room, cookery room, two well stocked libraries and a technology room, as well as several smaller teaching areas for group work. There are also two spacious halls used for assemblies, PE, music and drama. There is a well equipped computer suite and a network system. The school is committed to being an outstanding example of a community that is self-evaluating, forward thinking and values all those who make a contribution to its life and work.
