Background:
The Billericay School is at the western end of the town and is in a semi-rural setting. The original school, The Great Burstead Senior Mixed School, was opened in 1923 and although some of the older buildings remain the same, the school has undergone extensive building programmes. A new technology block was opened in 1990 and expanded in 1995, while this year the school is in the process of major refurbishment to the swimming pool, library and opening a new sixth form block. The school has a wide range of extra-curricular activities including top county teams for rugby and football and were the winners of the Essex Cup in cricket. The school aims to offer a happy, safe and secure environment in a family atmosphere that encourages success and achievement.
