Background:
Built in 1963, with additions made in 1973, the college lies within spacious grounds to the west of Colchester town centre. The college is housed in modern, two-storey buildings set in the pleasant grounds, which include hard play areas, playing fields, tennis courts and a copse. In addition to the general classrooms, there are specialist rooms for the teaching of all subjects. The college is centred around a Roman Catholic foundation, reflected in the make-up of its feeder schools, and serves the Christian community of North East Essex. The college has a very active Parent Teacher Association, and in 1997 parents and governors set up a charitable company, which enabled the construction of a state-of-the-art sports hall, then in 1998, the addition of two new science laboratories. The college takes great pride in itself, maintaining strong links with local businesses. In addition parents are encouraged to take part in daytime support of the school's activities. The college aims to provide a safe, caring and well-ordered environment based upon mutual respect and Gospel values wherein each student develops to their full potential.
