Background:
The school was founded by Dr Robert Eden, the Rector of Leigh, in 1847. Further building took place in 1969 and 1997 and it now offers 12 classrooms grouped around a central courtyard, a hall, a library and ICT network, with additional rooms and areas for special needs, food technology, music and computers. There is an open-air heated swimming pool and a small playing field. In addition to subjects required by the National Curriculum, the school offers after-school sports facilities, dance clubs and chess clubs. It takes part in annual borough sports events and participates in musical prodcutions in the town. It receives good support from local businesses and supports charities such as The Poppy Appeal, Dr Barnardo's and local hospital appeals.
