Background:
Kelvedon St Mary's Church of England Primary School is a primary school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is five to 11.The present school, completed in three phases was opened in 1977 on its present site. St Mary's is a semi open-plan design with 14 teaching bases, including an early year's unit. The school is well equipped, with a well-resourced library and a large hall, which is used for Collective Worship, physical education and dining. It has a purpose-built computer suite. There is a large, shared junior area containing computers, the library and art areas including a kiln. The school has extensive grounds with separate infant and junior asphalt and grassed areas. The junior playground contains a quiet area, with benches underneath a landscaped wooden gazebo. The recent additions to its infant playground include an adventure playground and a static train. The various extra-curricular activities are offered in school including: football, netball, rugby, cricket, tennis, drama and music.
