Background:
Founded in 1849 to provide education according to principles and practice of the Church of England; attractively placed in centre of village, with access to nearby playing field. An extension comprising four teaching areas built in 1970, with two further classrooms added in 1981. Slightly over-subscribed; offers broad and balanced curriculum with particular emphasis on music and art. Range of sports includes swimming, in which children achieve high standards. French taught in Year 6 and available as extra-curricular activity; also sports, technology and music. Good links with the community, especially the church; children raise funds for charities such as Chesterford's Aid for Children. DfES achievement awards (2000, 2001, 2002).
