Background:
Upshire Primary Foundation School is a primary and nursery school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is four to 11. There has been a school at Upshire since 1874. It was then housed in a building on the Warlies Estate. Upshire Primary Foundation School has been on this site since 1935. The buildings have been extended and altered during this time. A major refurbishment was carried out during 1989/90 with redecoration and upgrading of many facilities. The school has its own playing field and two playgrounds. The building comprises 10 classrooms, a hall, a kitchen, a medical room and an administration wing. In the Year 2000, a classroom was converted into a computer suite and in 2001 another classroom was converted into a design technology area and library. The forest is also very accessible and is a constant source of study and interest for all the classes. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. The school aims to treat each child as an individual and to enable them to access the whole curriculum and to develop their potential to the full.
