Background:
Milldene was opened in 1968 to serve the housing estates being developed to the north of Tiptree. The buildings are spacious in design with well-proportioned individual classrooms and a room used by its special educational needs coordinator, for group work with teaching assistants and parent helpers. There is a large assembly hall, which is equipped for physical education. It also has a well-equipped ICT suite (used regularly by all classes), library and kiln room. The school is well resourced and offers considerable space for children to enjoy the learning process. All classes have timetabled sessions to use the ICT suite, as well as each class having at least one computer in their classroom. All children sing regularly and are taught traditional and modern rhymes, songs and hymns. The school aims to create a secure, happy and challenging environment where all children are given equal opportunities to develop their natural curiosity.
