Background:
The site for Grays Convent School was originally purchased by the Sainte Union Sisters in 1904 and the school was opened two years later with six pupils. Over the years the school has developed and it now consists of specific areas for home economics and science laboratories, art and a gymnasium. The school was awarded Beacon school status in 1999 and received an excellence award in 2001. The school's aim is 'to create a community where Christian values are taught, exemplified and practised and to maintain an atmosphere which is Christian, secure and happy'.
