Background:
Founded in 1948, the school became two-form entry in 1998. The school building consists of a 12 classrooms, a library, resource room, music room, cookery room and stockrooms. In 1997, a purpose-built nursery opened as a separate unit for part-time pupils. Glade Primary occupies an 'enviable' site, with its own field, hard and soft playgrounds, and an 'extensive' woodland area. The school designed and built its own conservation area which offers an 'invaluable' resource for many areas of the curriculum. Extra-curricular activities include football, netball, gymnastics, chess, science, choir, athletics, art and orchestra. The pupils have entered various sports competitions, and notably came second in the local education authority gym competion. Most recently, the school held an African Arts Week together with a local special school, as part of its initiative to develop links with the community.
