Opened in 1958, the school is situated in a residential area close to the eastern boundary of Havering, and serves Cranham in Upminster. The pupils reflect the 'broad social and ability range' of the private and council housing the area comprises.This is a 'popular' school, with a 'good reputation' for music, drama and sport. A 'wide range' of extra-curricular activities is available. There is an 'active' Parent-Teacher Association and the school has a 'good relationship' with parents and the community.
