Background:
Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School was founded in 1900 by Ursuline nuns from Forest Gate, and originally catered for 60 days and boarding girls. All pupils learn French and German or Spanish in Years 7 to 11 with the offer of other languages in Years 12 and 13. Latin is taught in Year 7 and is an option in Years 8 and 9. There is work-experience for all Year 10 pupils, work-experience abroad in Year 12 and work-shadowing in Year 13. Exchanges, visits and joint projects are organised with schools in France, Germany, Spain and Kenya. An indoor heated swimming pool is among the sporting facilities and the school produces county and national players in netball, athletics, tennis and fencing, and league players in soccer. The school aims to provide a calm, stimulating and positive environment.
